For nearly 6 months,

I could only see you in tiny photos

I kept on my desk.

I could only recall,

The sounds of your heartbeat,

The two times I heard it.

I could only sense you,

Laying on my bladder

Day and night.

And then finally,

Like the first dot of light after a long, cold night,

Your body shifted,

And so did I.

You moved.

You kicked.

You pressed.

You left a rippling sensation inside me

Like an echo from my favorite song.

And time sped up,

Pulling the son from behind the horizon

And radiating his light through a crisp, clear day.

And I was struck by your presence, boy.

I knew you.

And I loved you.
